*many of his works were dedicated to landscape motifs and personalities from bersenbrück and were inspired by impressionism. In total, franz hecker created more than a thousand works in various techniques. He also painted the murals in the meeting rooms of the bersenbrück town hall in 1913. Some of hecker’s earlier works were considered “degenerate” by the nazis, and in 1937 five of his works were confiscated from the mannheim municipal art gallery and the worms municipal picture gallery and destroyed as part of the nazi “degenerate art” campaign.
