Robert savary (1920-2000). Quay of the seine, paris. Lithograph, signed in the margin. Framed, behind glass. Hand signed in pencil. In general good condition. Very decorative example of the art of robert savary. Robert savary is a french colorist figurative painter from the new school of paris known as “young painting” – a return to figurative art in a context of the 50s where abstract art predominates. During his career, he won numerous awards including the prestigious prix de la casa velaquez in 1948 and prix de rome in 1950. His works are present in many museums in france and abroad. Savary is best known for his city scenes, interiors, portraits, river, seascapes and harbours in a fun, colourful and impressionist manner. Throughout his career, savary tried to capture and show the hidden beauty of the intimate and everyday life. He synthesizes in his painting the realism of gustave courbet, the impressionist touch of claude monet and the fawn color of henri matisse. Its color palette is most often lively, it “presses this beautiful disorder of the wind and the sea”.
