Rare Petrol Blue Octagon Xxl “Reform” Conference Table by Friso Kramer Ahrend

Rare Petrol Blue version of the largest model Reform table made by Ahrend De Cirkel.

Dutch industrial designer and pioneer of functional design Friso Kramer made this Reform table in 1955 to match with his award winning Revolt chair, a chair he designed in 1953 that is now standing next to Jean Prouve’s work in Les Musee Arts & Decoratif in Paris.

We have a strong personal friendship with the designer legend Friso Kramer who is now 93 years old (on photo two taken last weekend at Design Icons 2016 Amsterdam he is sitting together with his grand son on Revolt chairs talking about his work).

4 years ago Friso Kramer opened the new Gallery and 3 years ago we set up an exhibition in Saint Germain Paris that was highly appraised by the French art & design press and called Friso Kramer “Le Prouve Hollandais.”

His works can be found in museum collections around the world.

Made for the Palais des Consuls de Rouen in 1955, this piece is not merely remarkable for its size, but for its blend of contemporary and traditional elements. André Arbus, one of the foremost French designers of the early-to-mid twentieth century, was as deeply entrenched in traditional French furniture-making as he was committed to innovation. This unity of past and present is evident in the way gilded embellishment, and a certain visual weight, both characteristic to Arbus’ rich design heritage, serve to ennoble an otherwise modern aesthetic of simple lines and rudimentary geometric forms.

Midcentury Oval Zebrano Wood and Goatskin Italian Table, 1950

Clean lines and absolutely original shape for the leg with a very large tabletop, perfect for meetings in the office or in the family.

The tabletop is formed by a large zebrano wood veneered frame, with a goatskin covering in the center. Beautiful the effect of the veneer on the leg, to note that is put like a chessboard. The leg is formed by four large curves that intersect in the center. These are veneered in zebrano wood and have a goatskin insert on the front. The table itself is very simple but impressive is its shape.
Very stabile and solid, 10/12 people can stay around it comfortably seated. In addition to a good dining table, it could be taken for a conference table, why not. Put on a large carpet, solid color, or directly on the floor, the table will surely be the protagonist. The table can be disassembled. The top is a whole piece, but the leg can be divided into three parts.

Restored by the expert hands of our atelier, this item has no defects, but it may show slight traces of use. For each piece, before the departure, a revision is redone, to make sure it arrives in excellent condition.
