Hand hooked folk art rug professionally mounted for hanging. The silhouetted horse is on a sophisticatedly colored ground of green grays with a wavy pink line border and with abstracted foliage forms in the corners. Rug has rounded corners adding a further design element.

We are selling this Chinese Zodiac style assemblage of badges. There are 12 different badge type silk embroideries with various animal themes and some include calligraphy decoration as well. Some of the panels are done in Forbidden stitch and most appear to be 19th century, they may have been assembled in the early 20th century.

Condition: Some wear and discoloration and light fading to the silk. Glass slightly alters the photos.

This fabric is woven by the skilled hands of the Mossi people in Burkina Faso. It is a rare and unique traditional handspun indigo-dyed cotton yarn, handwoven into strips and sewn together into a whole cloth. The cloth has a soft feel, having aged gracefully with its indigo dye, and it measures 57″ H by 48″ W. It is 100% cotton and in excellent condition for its age. Use the fabric as a blanket or throw, or as a decorative wallhanging, or cut it up and make something special.

Primarily in blues, greens and rust, 70%wool/30%cotton and with a spiral weave to provide added depth and texture to the piece. Exquisite, One-of-a-Kind, intricately crafted, handmade, mid century, mixed media, wall tapestry.

The artist hand embroidered her signature, Charlotte Kennedy, on the bottom right.

There is also an older, vintage style, custom label, with her name, sewn onto the finished coral satin backing.

This Mid Century modernist rendering of assorted bottles are a masterfully, vibrant composition.

Glass, beads, sequins, metallic thread, complementary fabrics of different textures, patterns and bold colors are montaged and outlined with appliquéd, colorful, winding rope upon a joyful coral-pink corduroy background.

Regency period Sampler, 1827, by Mary Ann Ragen. The sampler is finely worked in silk threads on a linen ground, mainly in cross stitch. Meandering strawberry border. Colours green, red, gold, pink and brown. Verse reads, ‘Remember now thy Creator in the Days of thy Youth, while the evil Days come not, nor the Years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; – Eccle.3-xii chap.1.verse. – Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither Poverty nor Riches; feed me with food convenient for me; lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, who is the Lord? Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.- Prov.-xxx chap.7.8.9 – verses.’. Signed and dated ‘Mary Ann Ragen’s work. 1827.’. A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including Adam & Eve standing either side of the tree of life with a snake coiled around its trunk, dogs, birds, parrots, potted flowering plants, temples, fruit baskets, deer, trees and butterflies. Framed in an old, burr maple frame with rippled, old glass. Mounting: The sampler is fixed to card. Frame backed with wood and sealed with tape.. Dimensions exclude the frame and slip.
